Oppo helpez me pls! I just got a new phone, and I’m looking for a case. I am somewhat brand loyal to Incipio, and I’ve narrowed it down to these two:
Cool Carbon Fiber: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Or Actual drop protection: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Which should I go for?
(write-in candidates are welcome as well)

2nd one, I need face protection. I used to be an Incipio fan but didn’t like the iPhone 6 case I got from them. I went and bought a blue Diztronic case from Amazon for $10 and it’s been great. I’ve dropped it too many times and the phone is perfect.

Get a lifeproof case.
They’re drop proof, dust proof and waterproof.
I had one on my old iPhone for three years and not a damned thing happened to the phone. I had to replace the case once because it eventually took too much damage, but the phone was fine. Then, after the case got too damaged a second time, I didn’t replace it, but used a cheap case instead and fucked up my pristine, like-new phone.
Now I’ve got a 6S, and you can be sure it’s got a Lifeproof on it that won’t come off.

Drop cases are a scam since a few millimetres of rubber is not gonna soften an impact to any real extent. So I would say get the carbon case out of the two. What I would recommend though would be a skin since it make the phone a lot less slippery thus reducing the likelihood of dropping it anyway.

This is what I’ve been using for the past year. It doubles as a wallet when I don’t want to carry my wallet.

The tempered glass screen protectors are a must in my book.

I’ve never enjoyed the feel/look of cases but wanted something that protected the phone from scratches. So I have this, Spigen Air Skin and love it:

I tried a Lifeproof case. I hated it. The biggest issue was the charging port. It was designed to be a tight fit for Apple cables. Every other after-market cable I tried was too big to fit. Since I already had a bunch of after-market accessories, I ditched the Lifeproof case for a cheap Body Glove two-part case. It’s fine for the typical drop and works with the gorilla glass screen protector. It has enough of a front lip to keep the face of the phone off the desk. Just keep in mind that it isn’t waterproof.
I had an Otterbox case for my Blackberry back in the day. I couldn’t justify the cost when the phone I’m protecting belongs to the company. If they aren’t willing to shell out the big bucks to protect their phone, then neither am I.

I like it. It’s all about preference really. I’ve just never liked the bumper feel/look on my phones. I'm good at not dropping them but that'll probably change now that I just said that. Dammit.

My standard answer is usually Otterbox Defender (usually around $20 on Amazon) with the screen protector ripped out. Seriously, those things are nearly pointless unless you need waterproofing. They do very little to prevent real damage — Gorilla Glass is already very scratchproof. But since you're looking for lower profile, they make one called the Commuter, I think.

when in doubt, Otterbox defender!
